Chaos Erupts at Messi Fan Event in India as Angry Crowd Hurls Chairs and Bottles

A promotional event featuring football icon Lionel Messi in India descended into chaos after angry fans began throwing chairs and bottles, forcing organizers to abruptly halt proceedings and rush the Argentine superstar to safety.

According to eyewitnesses, tensions flared when sections of the crowd grew restless over long delays, overcrowding, and limited access to the stage area. What began as loud chanting and pushing quickly escalated into violence, with plastic chairs and water bottles flying toward the barricaded zone near the venue’s front.

Security personnel formed a protective shield around Messi and escorted him away amid loud jeers and screams. Local police were deployed to restore order, while event organizers announced the cancellation of the remaining program citing “serious safety concerns.”

Videos circulating on social media show fans running for cover as objects are thrown, while others can be heard shouting in frustration. Several attendees reportedly suffered minor injuries, though authorities said no life-threatening harm was recorded.

The incident has sparked criticism of the event’s crowd management and planning. Fans accused organizers of overselling tickets and failing to communicate clearly, while officials said an internal review would be conducted to assess security lapses.

Messi has not publicly commented on the incident. The episode has cast a shadow over what was intended to be a celebratory fan interaction, raising broader questions about event safety and crowd control at high-profile sports appearances in India.
